Towards the end of 2017 I was feeling more and more, that after 40 years, I had created enough mailart for several lifetimes. The idea of retiring from the correspondence network to explore new directions began to make sense. I thought I would announce my retirement on my 70th birthday in 2018, but in December I decided that it was better to just stop. I designed my last stamp, "Passing the Torch," and mailed it out with a short explanation of my decision. Admittedly, an emotional bump for me, and for many friends who I had a long history with, though everyone understood and wished me well.

In 2017 I was lucky enough to win the coveted Trotz Award for my piece "Wrong Way" (see left). I travelled to the award ceremony in Hobleton, OK, where I met the judges and new fans of my work.

When Dragons Came to Alice Street
